Ocala Gainesville Poker and Jai Alai will cease operations on October 28
A poker and Jai Alai venue that’s been in business for 50 years in Marion County, Florida, will close soon as it makes way for a brand new poker room. Ocala Gainesville Poker and Jai Alai has announced in an official statement that it will be closing its doors this week and that the final day of operation will be October 28.
The statement reads, “We would like to inform you that our last day of business at Ocala Gainesville Poker and Jai Alai is Saturday, October 28.” Ocala Jai Alai is located at 4601 W Hwy 318 in Orange Lake and has been in business since initially opening in 1973. The facility started offering an assortment of casino-style games in 2008, including tables featuring No-Limit Texas Hold ’em poker.
The company is notifying former customers that any outstanding poker chips held that were previously won must be cashed in before the end of the last business day and will not be valid after that. “Now is the time to cash out all Ocala Gainesville poker chips in your possession, as they will have no cash value as of 10/28/2023,” says the statement.
The business is now focusing its efforts on its new poker room, which will be known as Ocala Bets. The cardroom will be located next to the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company at 1781 SW 60th Avenue. Ocala Bets has yet to announce when it will be open for business. However, several dealers hired to work at the new cardroom have revealed they will start working at the new business in early November.
The full-service card room will feature several poker variants like Ultimate Texas Hold ’em and 3-card poker and will offer intertrack horseracing wagering, according to the Ocala Bets website.
