Two years after winning a WSOP title, Espen Jorstad scores another big victory
Espen Jorstad continues to cement his place among poker’s elite, showcasing his prowess at the €25,000 (US$26,500) buy-in No-Limit Hold’em high roller during the European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague festival. The 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event champion emerged victorious, which drew 34 entries and built an impressive prize pool of $855,950. Jorstad walked away with the top prize of $294,150, adding another milestone to his great career.
Since his career-defining $10 million win at the 2022 WSOP, Jorstad has consistently demonstrated his skill, with 49 cashes totaling nearly $7.7 million in earnings. This latest triumph pushes his lifetime winnings to approximately $18.6 million, solidifying his status as Norway’s all-time money leader.
The tournament paid out to the top seven finishers, with Morten Klein securing a small portion of his buy-in in seventh place. Key eliminations followed, including Viacheslav Buldygin in sixth place for $59,890 and Nikita Kuznetsov in fifth, earning $76,002. Czech player Roman Hrabec exited in fourth, pocketing $97,414 after his J-8 failed to overcome Jorstad’s pocket aces.
The event’s conclusion came dramatically with a three-way all-in. Ilya Nikiforov pushed his short stack holding J-10, while Enrico Camosci followed with a shove holding pocket nines. Jorstad called with A-10, and the final board revealed a decisive ace, awarding Jorstad the victory. Nikiforov claimed $131,652 for third place, while Camosci earned $191,542 as the runner-up.
This win marks another highlight for Jorstad, who also secured a $2.2 million cash at the Triton Monte Carlo stop earlier this year. With each success, Jorstad continues to elevate his standing in the poker world, proving that his abilities extend far beyond a single monumental victory.
