The new option allows players to pay to see others’ hole cards
ClubWPT Gold has rolled out a new feature that is already dividing its player base. Called “Reveal Hands,” the option allows users to see the hole cards of every player at the table after a hand concludes, provided they are willing to pay for it. The feature launched on Thursday morning following scheduled maintenance and immediately sparked debate in the online poker community.
The mechanic works simply: if a player is present for the full hand, a button appears allowing them to purchase access to the hole cards of all players involved. That information can also be revisited later through the Hand History window or Hand Replayer. Costs vary by table stakes, starting at the equivalent of two big blinds and climbing with each additional use during the same session.
ClubWPT Gold has framed the offering as an analysis tool that helps players review hands more clearly and improve their decision-making. In promotional material, the operator even featured high-stakes pro Garrett Adelstein, linking the feature to the idea of reducing second-guessing after tough situations. However, early reactions from players on social media have been largely negative, with many calling the move greedy and unnecessary.
The controversy is not new territory for the platform. Earlier this year, ClubWPT Gold introduced a time bank system that charged players a portion of their big blind to extend decision time, another option that was widely criticized for monetizing standard gameplay elements. Despite these concerns, the operator continues to experiment with unusual mechanics as it grows its relatively young sweepstakes poker product.
Whether players see Reveal Hands as a valuable study tool or just another gimmick remains to be seen. For now, ClubWPT Gold is the only sweepstakes site in the U.S. offering this type of feature, mirroring a similar option available on its sister site, WPT Global.
