The Borgata Winter Poker Open NLHE Championship has wrapped up, delivering an unforgettable conclusion to the two-week poker festival. This $3,500 buy-in event, hosted at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City and sponsored by BetMGM Poker, crowned two champions in an unusual twist.
Nguyen Le secured the largest payday of $425,000 following a heads-up deal, while Joseph Neiman earned $406,791 and the official title after winning the final all-in hand. Both players took home trophies to mark their success.
Le’s victory is the biggest achievement of his career, adding to his recent momentum after a strong showing at PokerGO’s PGT Last Chance event. His plans include playing more poker in Florida and Las Vegas. Neiman, a former World Amateur Backgammon Champion from 1982, shared how this poker win holds sentimental value, especially since his children could witness his success.
The event exceeded expectations, drawing 932 entries and building a prize pool of nearly $2.9 million, significantly surpassing the $2 million guarantee. With 120 players cashing in, payouts started at $7,786, ensuring numerous satisfied participants.
The final stages of the tournament were full of excitement. Notable players like Nicholas Pupillo, Darren Elias, and Anthony Zinno made deep runs. The elimination of Edward Leonard in 10th place set the stage for a dramatic final table. Kitty Kuo exited in eighth, and Tom McNicholas followed in seventh after a tough beat against Salvatore Evola’s aces.
