MGM Resorts resolved the cyberattack issues but is still dealing with some problems
Borgata had planned to hold its fall mini-series in October until MGM Resorts became the victim of hackers who interrupted daily operations. The mini-series has since been rescheduled to run from November 14-19 at Borgata Atlantic City.
Borgata New Jersey will also run live online qualifiers for several of the festival’s bigger tournaments. The series still has a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million for the upcoming events.
Most MGM retail properties were affected by the hack that began in Las Vegas and included Borgata in Atlantic City. It happened almost a week before the series was set to kick off, with reports that player details and MGM rewards information were at risk, causing the BetMGM rewards site to go offline for over a week.
Borgata, Partypoker and BetMGM NJ Poker ran uninterrupted during the hack. All three sites share the same player pool and weren’t affected by the breach. The Main Event of the Borgata November Mini Series is the $2,500 buy-in 8 Max Championship, running from November 15-18 with a guaranteed $500,000 prize pool.
The popular Saturday Series will make its return for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament runs for one day on November 18 and has an $800 buy-in with $200,000 in guaranteed prizes.
Players can begin registering for the Kick-Off event, Saturday Series event and 8-Max Championship on November 6. In-person registration at Borgata Atlantic City will start on November 12. Players can also qualify through several live satellite events, with buy-ins ranging from $75 to $450.
The Borgata Winter Open is also returning in 2024 and will run for several weeks, as was announced on the Nerdthusiast Poker Podcast. Borgata Poker Director Kellie DeCelis stated, “Confirmed dates are January 2-January 26.”
