Massey’s the first to qualify for the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour Hall of Fame this year
Aaron Massey entered the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour (MSPT) record books after his seventh-place finish at the Main Event at the Venetian. The Chicago native is the first player on the mid-major tour to qualify for the MSPT Hall of Fame after his latest top-ten finish. He has over $700,000 on the MSPT to date and career earnings of more than $5 million.
Massey joins 11 other players who have qualified for the MSPT Hall of Fame, including the two latest entrants, Josh Reichard and “DQ” Dan Hendrickson, with the distinction that includes Jason Seitz, Rob WazWaz, Patrick Steele, Aaron Johnson, Blake Bohn, Mark Hodge, Rich Alsup, Matt Kirby and Kou Vang.
Massey now has 24 MSPT Main Event cashes, with the latest putting him at ten MSPT final tables for his career, including his 2016 win at FireKeepers for $174,658, just his second cash on the tour. He also finished as runner-up at FireKeepers in February 2017, putting him over $300,000 at one of the tour’s major stops.
After a 10th-place finish at FireKeepers in 2019, Massey would take his talents to Las Vegas, finishing at the top of the payout sheets at Venetian Las Vegas three times. In June of 2021, he finished in ninth place, and then he would finish seventh in December before taking third in the 2022 Poker Bowl event.
Massey has three more Venetian final tables since February 2022 to earn his spot in the MSPT Hall of Fame, with most of his achievements coming since the COVID-19 pandemic.
