One of the biggest poker events of the year is already getting ready for another deep run
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) just finished its WSOP Paradise festival in the Bahamas and has now turned its focus to Las Vegas with the announcement of the dates for the 2024 WSOP.
The 55th edition of the series will take place from May 28 to July 17, 2024. The remainder of the schedule won’t be available until sometime next year, but officials have confirmed that the $10,000 WSOP Main Event will run for two weeks between July 3-17.
The successful 2023 WSOP saw a record number of entries, including in the Main Event, which returns to its usual venues on the Strip, the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.
“There’s not much more that can be said about what a special year 2023 was for the WSOP and the game of poker,” said SVP and Executive Director of the World Series of Poker Ty Stewart. “But it’s time to turn the page and begin the countdown to 2024. Records are made to be broken. We’re busy on improvements to make sure 2024 is both the biggest and best event in poker history. Mark your calendars and bank those vacation days. We’ll see you in Vegas.”
Daniel Weinman beat the field of 10,043 entrants to win a record-breaking Main Event for $12.1 million, which was the largest in the 54 years of the WSOP, exceeding the field of 8,663 players in 2006 that Jamie Gold beat to take home the $12 million prize.
There will be four starting flights for the $10,000 buy-in event, which will likely be as follows: Day 1a to 1d will run from July 3-6, with late registration also remaining open on Day 2a, 2b, and 2c on July 7, and Day 2d on July 8.
