Chile’s casino regulator is moving ahead with plans to award four new gaming licenses after clearing key administrative steps. The Superintendence of Gaming Casinos (SCJ) confirmed it has opened the formal process for properties in Iquique, Coquimbo, Viña del Mar, and Pucón.
The licenses will allow operators to run full-scale casino gaming venues in each of the four communes. The move follows the approval of technical rules through resolutions issued on January 23, which now serve as the framework for interested bidders.
Companies seeking a license can download the technical guidelines and access the digital application system through the SCJ’s official website. The documents were made available on January 30 and will remain open for review until July 23, giving applicants several months to prepare.
This phase marks the start of both technical and financial planning for bidders. Applicants have 120 business days to develop and submit their proposals, which must meet detailed operational, compliance, and investment requirements outlined by the regulator.
A formal presentation hearing for all technical and economic offers is scheduled for July 24 at 10:00 a.m. The event will take place at the SCJ offices in Santiago and represents a key milestone in the licensing process.
Before that, bidders have a limited window to ask questions or request clarification. The consultation period runs through February 13, with inquiries submitted by email. The SCJ has committed to responding to all questions by March 6.
Following the July hearing, the regulator will begin evaluating the technical proposals. This review period can last up to 120 business days and will follow a scoring system defined in the technical bases.
