The move is meant to help the project gain access to a potentially larger user base

Stablecoin-focused blockchain Noble has announced plans to leave the Cosmos ecosystem and relaunch as an Ethereum-compatible network. The project says the move is aimed at improving developer access and expanding its technical capabilities as it shifts toward broader real-world use cases.

Noble confirmed it will migrate from a Cosmos SDK-based chain to a standalone Ethereum Virtual Machine layer-1. The new network is scheduled to go live on March 18 and will be designed specifically to support stablecoins, payments, and decentralized finance applications.

Originally built as a neutral hub for issuing stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets, Noble says its role has changed over time. The team noted that increased demand for end-user applications pushed the network beyond what its original Cosmos setup could comfortably support.

The switch to an EVM-based chain is driven largely by tooling and talent. Ethereum’s environment offers a deeper pool of developers and a mature open-source stack. Noble plans to use Rust-based Commonware infrastructure alongside the Reth Ethereum client to improve performance and reliability.

Scalability was another factor behind the decision. The team said that Cosmos’s architecture placed limits on future product development. The new chain will aim for sub-500 millisecond transaction finality, permissionless smart contracts, and dedicated payment lanes to prioritize real-world transactions.

Noble reports processing more than $22 billion in volume since 2023 and serving as a liquidity layer for over 50 blockchains. It also supports its own stablecoin, Noble Dollar (USDN), which currently has a market value of about $36 million after peaking last year.
