UFC announcer Bruce Buffer has deep run at WSOP High Roller event

UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer made it to the final day, but came up short

UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer survived until the final day of Event #39: $50,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold ’em (8-Handed) at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP). He entered Day 3 as the short stack against 12 of the world’s top players as play began on Sunday.

However, Buffer wasn’t finished, as he immediately doubled up with pocket kings against Jonathan Jaffe’s Ace high to take off some of the pressure.

Artur Martirosian (12th for $106,810), Martin Kabrhel (10th for $131,876), and Leon Sturm (9th for $165,849) would be among the five players sent to the rail before Buffer. He would later find himself all-in, holding A-K suited against Jaffe’s pocket kings, and needed a lot of help to survive. The board didn’t improve either player’s hand, sending Buffer home in eighth place with a nice payday of $212,423.

This was Buffer’s first appearance at a WSOP final table and his first cash at the series since 2013. He’s also appeared several times on Hustler Casino Live and now has more than $550,000 in career live tournament earnings, according to The Hendon Mob.

Just six players remained after the dinner break, as Spanish grinder Sergio Aido emerged as the winner. He earned a career-best $2,026,506 after beating Chance Kornuth heads-up for his first WSOP bracelet in a lengthy battle over two levels.

“Yeah, it feels very good, of course, it’s something special. So, yeah, I had a very good idea about this,” said Aido after winning his first bracelet. “The best thing in my poker career for me for the moment.”

Kornuth earned his biggest tournament cash of $1,351,000 for second place.
