Six more poker pros have confirmed they’ll join Phil Ivey in the high-stakes game
Phil Ivey was the first pro to verify his participation in the $1 million buy-in Big One for One Drop at the WPT World Championship. The WPT ambassador and six more players confirmed they will join him at Wynn Las Vegas for the year’s biggest buy-in event.
The list includes high-stakes players Rick Salomon and Talal Shakerchi, top pros Chris Brewer and Nick Petrangelo, investor David Einhorn and winner of two Poker Players Championships, Dan “Jungleman” Cates.
"Our partnership with the One Drop Foundation has already seen some big names turn up in the Alpha8 fields,"
"As the Big One draws near, we are elated with every new entry, building excitement and securing further support for the One Drop Foundation's global cause."
WPT CEO Adam Pliska
Many pros playing at the Big One for One Drop have had past success at this event. Salomon will be playing his fifth edition of the Big One, finishing in fourth place in 2014 and 2018, and his third-place finish in the 2016 WSOP Monte Carlo event earned him $3.3 million. Einhorn also finished third in 2012 to take home $4.3 million.
Petrangelo, Shakerchi and Cates have also participated in previous One Drop events. Brewer makes his first appearance at One Drop while having an outstanding year playing high-stakes tournaments where he’s had his four biggest career tournament cashes.
"It is amazing to witness the first wave of entrants into the Big One, which includes some of our past participants as well as new faces,"
said One Drop Foundation Chief Marketing and Events Officer Alexandre Meunier.
"Rick, David, and Talal have been a part of every Big One since its inception. We welcome all the players and cannot wait to add more incredible names to the lineup."
