Pavel Plesuv etched his name in the annals of World Series of Poker (WSOP) records during the 2023 WSOP $1,500 Millionaire Maker No-Limit Hold ’em event. In a remarkable feat, he outlasted 10,416 contenders to secure a historic victory, becoming the first-ever Moldovan player to claim the coveted WSOP gold bracelet.
Plesuv’s incredible journey towards triumph was nearly completed last year when he narrowly missed out on his inaugural series win, finishing a hair’s breadth away in second place in the intense six-max $10,000 event. In this latest instance, he managed to successfully seal the agreement and depart with the coveted prize.
Accompanying his triumph, Plesuv was awarded an extraordinary sum of $1,201,564, setting a new record for the highest payout. Consequently, his total earnings from tournaments now amount to an impressive $7.6 million, with an additional $2.2 million originating from his exceptional performance in the final installment of the series. Moreover, this victory granted Plesuv a remarkable accumulation of 1,440 Card Player Player of the Year points.
In January, Plesuv participated in the $3,300 side event at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. He secured a commendable fifth-place finish in this tournament, earning a significant sum of $56,150 along with 375 points, thereby acquiring his second qualifying POY score for the year. This impressive achievement propelled him to the esteemed top 100 of the POY 2023 rankings, proudly presented by Global Poker.
In 2018, Plesuv triumphed as the victor of the $3,500 WPT Seminole Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open event, securing an impressive sum of $504,820. This noteworthy accomplishment solidifies Plesuv’s status as a triumphant participant in international tour events.
