Jordan Saccucci booted from WSOP Paradise tournament

The player’s alleged involvement in burglaries in Canada makes him persona non grata

2022 European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague Main Event winner Jordan Saccucci was arrested last week in Ontario, Canada, in connection with a string of robberies of more than 30 residences. The 33-year-old is apparently out on bond as he was seen competing on Day 1b of the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise Main Event. However, his appearance didn’t last long.

Saccucci didn’t leave the Atlantis Paradise because he ran out of chips but because he was ousted from the property by the casino, a decision supported by WSOP staff. Tournament officials did not disclose the exact explanation for his removal and whether it was connected to his recent arrest.

Saccucci was taken into custody by Halton Regional Police in Oakville, Ontario, on December 5, along with 41-year-old Dumark Lindsay, who was also a suspect in the case. According to a press release, both men “were held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.”

The suspects were arrested a week after authorities searched the residences of four suspects, including Saccucci’s, where they recovered “numerous” stolen items from the victim’s homes. The pair were charged with 68 offenses, and for Saccucci, it isn’t his first time being arrested.

Saccucci was one of ten people detained in March 2021 for a Toronto burglary spree that spanned from 2020 into 2021, with media reports indicating his penchant for break-ins extended as far back as 2015. Despite the seriousness of the charges, he traveled to the Bahamas to resume playing poker and gave a statement to PokerNews saying the charges from 2021 had been dismissed.

Halton Regional Police Service announced on December 8 that Marcel Blackburn, the final suspect in the case, was apprehended in Oakville and was “charged with 69 Break and Enter related offenses and one breach of probation charge.”
