Jesse Lonis pockets $2.3 million in WSOP high-roller event

The two-time WSOP bracelet winner now has major bragging rights

Jesse Lonis emerged as the champion of the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller, outshining a crowd of 200 participants to secure the grand prize of $2,303,017. He experienced a monumental triumph – securing his second world championship bracelet and amassing a fortune exceeding $1 million.

Lonis first garnered notice at the 2021 WSOP by securing the runner-up spot in the $1,000 COVID-19 Relief tourney. His performance didn’t stop there, as he also displayed commendable skills during the Main Event, making it all the way to 25th place. Since then, Lonis has made a name for himself, making it to the final table on three separate occasions. Notably, he achieved second place twice at the esteemed WSOP.

Remarkably, his string of accomplishments culminated in him clinching his inaugural bracelet by triumphing in a $1,000 No Limit Hold’em game at Within a span of two years, he managed to conquer five tables and secure second place on a remarkable eight occasions.

As the High Roller Event neared its climax, Lonis embarked on his journey with the second-highest chip count among the impressive ensemble of eleven finalists. With caution, he tactfully maneuvered through the game, and soon began reaping substantial victories.

He emerged victorious against a formidable lineup, triumphing over the likes of Ian Matakis, Elias Harala, Isaac Haxton, James Park, Adam Hendrix and Danny Hannawa. As the final table was prepared, he found himself in excellent condition and ready to fight to the finish.

Lonis faced a formidable opponent in Tyler Smith in the final heads-up battle. However, through skill and determination, Lonis emerged victorious. It all came down to the last hand, where Lonis scored a winning combination of jacks and fours. This triumphant moment secured not only the win but the coveted bracelet and a significant amount of cash.
