Amateur Swedish poker player wins WSOPE event for $100,000

Soccer coach Tobias Garp takes down the €1,100 Mystery Bounty event

A group of poker players held a marathon at the King’s Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, over the last several days. The World Series of Poker Europe’s (WSOPE) six-max bracelet event yesterday saw an elite gathering of players participate in a grueling 17-hour poker session. Several others who were battling for a bracelet put in work during Event #9: €1,100 NLH Mystery Bounty, which was just completed.

The mental and physical toll of the grind was all worth it for Swedish assistant soccer coach Tobias Garp after he won the inaugural championship at the WSOPE Mystery Bounty tournament at the World Series of Poker Europe. The first-time bracelet winner grinded through the 803-player field to win his first piece of WSOP hardware and take home the €92,300 ($98,798) prize for his first-place finish.

Garp took down Adi Rajkovic in heads-up play for the biggest slice of the €562,100 ($601,672) regular prize pool. Rajkovic would secure the €57,000 ($61,013) second-place prize, with Koray Korkmaz rounding out the top three after taking home €40,400 ($43,244) as his share of the pot. The top three finishers also were awarded tickets for the €10,350 ($11,079) buy-in 2023 WSOPE Main Event beginning on November 10.

Other players to cash at the final table were Benjamin Pitoun in fourth place for €29,050 ($31,095), Otto Lemke finished fifth to take home €21,200 ($22,692), Stanislaw Miadzel was sixth for €15,700 ($16,805) and Alexander Romme would be the last player to cash five figures, winning €11,800 ($12,631) for finishing seventh.
