Adam Hendrix ships PokerGo Tour's first bounty event

PokerGo continues to expand into the Pot-Limit Omaha realm

Adam Hendrix won the PokerGO Pot Limit Omaha Series II’s first-ever progressive bounty event on Tuesday. He would secure the final bounty while picking up his fourth PokerGO Tour championship.

The progressive bounty tournament format has gained popularity over the last few years, with 101 players entering the inaugural $15,100 buy-in PokerGO offering on October 22. Players all had a $6,000 bounty on their heads. Each time someone eliminated a player, they received 50% of the opponent’s bounty plus an additional 50% added to their progressive bounty.

Several notable poker pros, including Daniel Negreanu, Richard Gryko and Finnish PLO specialist Eelis Pärssinen, were at the final table.

Hendrix would be third in chips when final table play began and was an attractive target with one of the biggest bounties on his head among the final six players. However, he was able to hold onto his stack and his bounty despite facing enormous competition.

Joni Jouhkimainen was the first player eliminated after he missed the board against Daniel Geeng, who would win with a two-pair. The next to lose 50% of their bounties would be Negreanu, Christian Heich and Gryko. Hendrix and Geeng would then go heads-up with even chip stacks after eliminating the other players.

Geeng built a lead over Hendrix, who would change the momentum after hitting a seven-high straight, forcing Geeng to fold. The chip lead would go back and forth until Hendrix eventually took control on the final hand.

Geeng was prepared to double-up after hitting a full house, but Hendrix would take the final pot after revealing quad fives to claim Geeng’s bounty and the $172,710 first prize. He became the first PokerGO Tour progressive bounty champion and increased his career earnings to over $5 million.
