Two players turn less than $600 into six-figure wins at the WSOP

Tom Hall and David Guay score big paydays as the WSOP series continues

As the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event heads into its third day, several players already have bragging rights for becoming champions. The series has already witnessed the conclusion of 71 live tournaments and 12 online competitions, and two players turned small buy-ins into big paydays as they each added a bracelet to their names

During the ultimate day of the thrilling 2023 WSOP $600 No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack Championship event, David Guay demonstrated his true potential as he conquered a challenging field of 4,303 competitors. His triumph not only granted him a coveted gold bracelet but also allowed him to pocket $271,032.

Previously, Guay had teetered on the precipice of victory, falling agonizingly short in his pursuit of the WSOP title twice. In 2017, he secured an impressive second place in the fiercely contested $1,000 tag-team event, and more recently, in 2021, the Canadian narrowly missed out on victory in the $1,000 double stack event.

However, this time fate smiled upon him as he emerged victorious from the tournament. As a result, Guay’s accumulated prize money from tournaments now stands at almost $1.5 million.

Thomas Hall emerged victorious in the WSOP Online 2023 $500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack tourney. This event drew the participation of 1,754 players and received an additional 937 re-entries, resulting in a substantial prize pool of $1,210,950. The British player’s exceptional performance rewarded him with a well-deserved victory, a cash prize of $176,920, and, most importantly, his inaugural bracelet.

Hall’s achievements in the poker realm are even more impressive when considering the significant $390,000 he earned as the fourth-place finisher in the 2018 LIVE MILLIONS Nottingham 2018 main event. With an impressive overall career tally, Hall has accumulated almost $3.2 million dollars throughout his poker career.
