The annual poker series is already turning players into champs
The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP), now underway at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, is already making poker champions. It awarded two gold bracelets on the third day of the series.
Asher Conniff was the champion in Event #1: $5,000 Champions Reunion, which wrapped up on Thursday. He also secured a $408,468 payday and the first gold bracelet of his career with the victory. Conniff came out on top after a heads-up battle with Halil Tasyurek, who went home with $322,305 for finishing as runner-up.
The second bracelet won on the third day of the WSOP festival was in Event #2: $500 Casino Employees. This event was scheduled to end on May 29, but play on Day 2 was halted by the tournament director at 2:00 AM, with four players still in the hunt for the title. Jose Garcia returned for Day 3 with the chip lead and secured the win to take home the $79,134 prize. Richard Rothmeier earned $52,773 for second place.
The fourth day of the WSOP should see a couple more gold bracelets given away. Β Event #3: WSOP Kickoff No-Limit Hold ’em Freezeout has reached the final eight of the 3,485 players that started the event. Daniel Willis will have more than a 7 million chip lead over Shawn Smith as the remaining players return at 1:00 PM today. The winner will walk away with $175,578.
Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better is also set to wrap up today. Twenty-two players remain, with Adam Natress among the three players with at least 2,000,000 chips. Aleksey Filatov and James Chen also have big stacks coming into Day 3 of the tournament.
