Big names like Adrian Mateos and Juan Pardo continue to shine at the felt

The 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour Cyprus began on October 11, featuring 59 events, including the $5,300 EPT Cyprus main event from October 16-22. Buy-ins range from $330 to $50,000 for the super high roller event. Champions have already been crowned in four tournaments with $25,000 or higher buy-ins.

The first $25,000 buy-in high roller event saw 59 entries, with a $1,416,590 prize pool. Alexander Tkatschew picked up his first live tournament win to earn $432,090, his second-highest career cash. The German now has almost $1.4 million in career earnings and saw his biggest payday in 2021 after finishing third in the WSOP Europe main event for $625,526.

Paulius Plausinaitis would come out on top the next day in the second $25,000 buy-in event, beating 29 entrants, with the top five finishers splitting the $696,290 prize pool. The $264,690 top prize was his largest recorded score, putting him at almost $795,000 in career earnings. His second-highest came when he finished second in a €2,700 ($2,855) side event at the 2023 EPT Barcelona.

Juan Pardo of Spain would navigate through 46 entrants to win the largest buy-in event, the $50,000 high roller, which built a $2,231,460 prize pool split between the top six players. His heads-up deal with Vicente Delgado gave him the title and the $688,560 top prize. Delgado would take home $583,400 for second place.

Only 16 players paid the buy-in for the third $25,000 event, resulting in a $384,160 prize pool divided among the top four players. 2015 EPT Grand Final champion and four-time WSOP bracelet winner Adrian Mateos would take the title for $157,946 and his 24th career tournament win.
