Poker continues to find new regions for success across the globe
The Estonian capital of Tallinn is preparing for the debut of the WSOP Circuit Tallinn festival at Olympic Park Casino and the Hilton Tallinn Park Hotel from September 14-24. The first-ever WSOP Circuit event in Northern Europe will have a €1 million ($1,0858,870) guaranteed prize pool in the Main Event.
Tallinn has been the center of the northern poker circuit for many years, hosting various European Poker Tour festivals over the past decade. However, the region disappeared from the international poker scene from 2012 to 2015 until tournament director Teresa Nousiainen and OlyBet Group organized the new Kings of Tallinn festival.
The first Kings of Tallinn series hosted 12 events in 2015, including the €1,100 Main Event that attracted 111 players, with future bracelet winner Ranno Sootla winning his title. The Olympic Park Casino and Hilton Tallinn Park Hotel have hosted many recent international tournaments, including the Summer Showdown series and the Patrik Antonius Poker Challenge (PAPC). The upcoming Northern European WSOP Circuit event will be Tallinn’s biggest-ever poker festival.
“Our poker events have grown from a few hundred players to huge crowds. In the last couple of series, we’ve sold up to 9000 tournament tickets per festival to players from more than 30 nationalities. Our €1,100 Main Event had over 700 entries in February, and now WSOPC Tallinn will have a €1,500 Main Event with a staggering €1 million guarantee! How cool is that?” said Nousiainen.
The WSOPC Tallinn 2023 festival will have a busy schedule of 52 events, including 12 ring events.
